SCOTTISH tech firm SnapDragon has appointed two new senior figures to the positions of head of marketing and product manager.

The appointments of Alexis Ovenstone and Kieron Smith come hot on the heels of the launch of its DIY IP protection platform Swoop.

Ovenstone joins as head of marketing and brings with her more than 20 years of experience in FMCG marketing with some of the UK’s most recognised brands, including Whyte and Mackay, Clover and Cathedral City.

She joins SnapDragon from Macsween, where she was responsible for implementing the marketing strategy for the firm, ensuring it maintained its top spot in the UK haggis market.

At SnapDragon, Ovenstone will be responsible for developing and executing the firm’s marketing plan as it continues its mission to become the go-to online brand protection service for SMEs.

She said: “Having worked in marketing for some of the UK’s top brands, I am fully aware of the struggles that many face when it comes to counterfeiting.

“I’m a strong believer that SnapDragon can make a real difference to the global counterfeit market, especially for SMEs who often lack the funds and resources to be able to fight back.”

Product manager Kieron Smith will use his 20 years of experience in software development and product management to lead SnapDragon’s digital team as it continues to develop its pioneering Swoop platform. Smith has experience

with several top digital firms, including financial services software firm, SNX Systems, and Scottish vehicle logistics software provider, Vehnet.

Smith said: “I am looking forward to working closely with SnapDragon’s team of linguists and IP experts to further enhance Swoop and help ensure that we achieve our mission of becoming a household name in the world of brand protection.”

SnapDragon founder Rachel Jones said: “I’m thrilled to have both Alexis and Kieron on board, bringing their exceptional skills and experience to the team.

“I firmly believe that both will be a great asset as we strive to reach our goal of making SnapDragon the go-to online brand protection solution.”
