THE G20 summit entered its crucial second and final day yesterday, with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman under much pressure following the controversial death of Jamal Khashoggi.
He appeared to be at ease though as he met Russian president Vladmir Putin, sharing an incredibly enthusiastic high-five.
This could be down to feelings of heat in the summit – Putin is facing backlash around the world after Russian forces seized three Ukrainian vessels and 24 seamen, which have yet to be returned.
US president Donald Trump said of the incident: “We don’t like what happened. Nobody does.”
German chancellor Angela Merkel said she blames Russia entirely for the crisis, and that she would be bringing up the issue with Putin.
The crisis has forced Ukraine into a state of martial law, yesterday announcing they have banned Russian men aged 16-60 from entering the country.
Salman faced a mixed reaction at G20, with some leaders happily exchanging in conversation with him, while others, including Prime Minister Theresa May were more direct. The crown prince has faced accusations of ordering the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
