FRENCH prime minister Edouard Philippe has held crisis talks with representatives of major political parties in the wake of violent anti-government protests that have rocked Paris.

More than 100 people were injured and 412 were arrested over the weekend during the country’s worst urban riot in years.

It was the third straight weekend of clashes in Paris, which began with upset over a fuel-tax hike but grew to encompass a range of government-related complaints.

The government has not ruled out imposing a state of emergency.
