A GROUP of MSPs in the Scottish Parliament have created a new cross-party group which aims to promote Scotland’s games sector.
Scotland already leads the UK in terms of the sector’s growth with Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow all ranking among the top 20 gaming industry hubs.
Dundee, widely considered the birthplace of Scotland’s gaming industry, has the fourth highest concentration of gaming companies in the UK’s major towns and cities, with a 4000-seat eSports arena set for completion in 2025.
The first meeting of the Games Ecosystem Cross-Parliamentary Group will take place in Holyrood on March 12.

Clare Adamson MSP, the proposed convenor of the group, said: “This year’s Scottish Games Week was a roaring success. There is real momentum in the games sector in Scotland.
“But the games sector does not get the prominence it needs in Scotland’s policymaking. We are aiming to change that with the Cross Party Group (CPG) on the Scottish Games Ecosystem.
“This is a vibrant community and we need to throw political support behind the sector to realise its enormous potential for Scotland – economically, socially, and culturally.

“With a new CPG, we are aiming to bring a unified voice to advocate for Scottish games.
“ A thriving games ecosystem will drive innovation, bring investment, create jobs, and serve as a cultural touchpoint befitting of Scotland’s world-renowned reputation in gaming.”
Adamson’s fellow SNP MSP Stephanie Callaghan is also set to be included in the group alongside Michael Marra (Labour), Ross Greer (Scottish Greens), and Maurice Golden (Conservative).
