NIKE recently gave trainer enthusiasts a first look at their new hiking trainers.

The new footwear, part of the brand's Air Max range, sports a moulded, dual-density foam and a newly engineered unit along the heel for better impact absorption.

However, they are Bowfin. And not just due to the questionable colour scheme alongside the trippy Twin Peaks-esque black-and-white straps. No, they are actually named Bowfin.

Clearly Nike didn't canvas opinion in Scotland before going ahead with the name.

And, as The Jouker is fond of saying, Scottish Twitter did not disappoint in its reaction.
